Evelyn Hofer
Florence

The Stones of Florence is Evelyn Hofer's first publication and was released in 1959. Evelyn Hofer took the photographs for Mary McCarthy's travelogue of Florence. Her view of Florence differs from Mary McCarthy's description of the city. While Mary McCarthy focusses the modern life in Florence, Evelyn Hofer's photographs are aimed at a timeless portrait and therefore exclude all indications of the modern civilization.
